Dena Springer is a bi-racial Asian-American animator & illustrator based in Chicago. Her work both magnifies and reduces behaviors within groups to respond to ideological structures between Eastern and Western perspectives. She uses vintage educational videos, instruction manuals, and old illustrations to respond to cultural definitions of role, gender, and identity.
Her animated films have been screened at festivals such as GLAS Animation Festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival, & Sweaty Eyeballs Animation Festival.
